In Living Colour: Ambiente 2027 Returns 29 January - 2 February

Ambiente 2027 puts colour, materiality and coexistence in focus, with an installation by Raw Color, three contrasting trend directions and an expanded platform for interior and hospitality design.

Colour, materiality and the creative possibilities of contrast will take centre stage at Ambiente 2027, which returns to Frankfurt am Main/ Frankfurt exhibition grounds from 29 January to 2 February.

A key draw for architects and interior designers will be the Interior Design & Architecture Hub in Hall 3.1, conceived by Eindhoven-based studio Raw Color, the Ambiente Designer 2027. Founded by Daniera ter Haar and Christoph Brach, the multidisciplinary studio is known for exploring the interaction of colour and materials across product design, graphics and photography.

For Ambiente, Raw Color will create Shades, a walk-in installation exploring how colour shifts through light and shadow. Taking the canopy — a familiar element in hospitality environments — as its starting point, the installation moves between intimate elevated areas in darker tones and more open, expansive spaces at ground level. Products from Ambiente exhibitors will be integrated throughout, turning the Hub into both a spatial experience and a study of how colour, form and texture can influence atmosphere and movement.

Colour and material also underpin Ambiente Trends 27+, organised around the overarching theme of Coexistence. Rather than proposing a singular aesthetic, three trend directions explore how contrasting approaches can sit alongside and enrich one another.

clear + lovely pairs clean structures and light natural materials with poetic details and touches of nostalgia. Woven willow, raffia, jute, untreated wood, ceramics and glass create tactile yet serene interiors, informed in part by Japanese design principles.

structural + emotive combines monochrome palettes, geometric forms and graphic patterns with sensuous materials. Textured glass, tactile papers and fragrant woods bring warmth to its disciplined compositions, while scent is considered another layer of spatial design.

By contrast, noble + fancy draws on historical and cultural references. Rich woods, botanical colours, sophisticated textiles, art glass and statement objects converge in a contemporary interpretation of the cabinet of curiosities.

To bring industry professionals together in a targeted way, Ambiente 2027 is joining forces with strong partners in the Interior Design segment in Hall 3.1. A high-calibre programme of talks at the Academy of the Interior Design & Architecture Hub, Guided Tours and – new – the Design Encounters for curated matchmaking organized by World-Architects create new business contacts for the interior and furniture industry and open up additional opportunities in the international project business.

Ambiente Projects brings together Ambiente’s offerings for international project business. In Hall 3.1, this approach takes shape with renowned partners: the European Council of Interior Architects (ECIA), together with the German Association of Interior Architects (bdia), Prima Vier Verlag with its trade magazine Office Roxx, and World-Architects with its international premium network for architects and building professionals.

New are the Design Encounters: a matchmaking format developed by World-Architects and Ambiente for the Sunday and Monday of the trade fair, complemented by Guided Tours. “Ambiente provides important international impetus for project business. With the Design Encounters, World-Architects and Ambiente bring together relevant decision-makers from architecture, interior architecture and industry from around the world in a targeted way.

Also new: for the first time, AIT-Dialog will take over the Saturday morning programme with a series of talks on architecture and hospitality. On Saturday afternoon, the Designers Day, organised in collaboration with the German Design Council, will move to the Interior Design & Architecture Hub, providing a new and thematically fitting setting for design inspiration, exchange and networking within the Designer Community.

As the world’s leading consumer goods trade fair, Ambiente continues to develop its three lifestyle areas of Dining, Living and Giving. Under the motto “The next move in Lifestyle”, the 2027 edition will place further emphasis on retail, hospitality and the international contract business in 2027. Hall 3.1 will expand its Interior Design and curated Interior Looks offerings, alongside increased matchmaking opportunities between designers, hospitality decision-makers and manufacturers.
