How To Create A Designer Bathroom

A new store in Singapore offers a slew of ideas to ensure you never want to leave this room in your home

What does your dream bathroom look like? A visit to the newly-opened GROHE Spa Flagship Store at Shaw Center along Scotts Road in Singapore should provide plenty of inspiration.

Alpha Ang, General Manager, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines & Indochina of LIXIL Water Technology Asia, shares why he will shop at the 6,000ft2 showroom if he were fitting out his home.

  • Create your own shopping list

Using RFID technology and customised handsets, you can select products that inspire you as they you the store. Back at level 1, a simple tap of a handset populates all shortlisted products onto a 40” touchscreen, complete with detailed product specifications. Here, you have a platform to properly review, add or remove from your selections, and even send the final list directly to your designer or contractor.

  • Pulling out all stops

On level 2, six luxurious bath sanctuaries have been replicated, referencing top regional hotels that have chosen GROHE collections for their bath suites. With these, you will find the inspiration to bring your dream bathroom to life. No expense was spared in the materials used. 3.2m x 1.6m tiles were fabricated just for the showroom, imported directly from Italy.

  • Virtual reality

A first in the industry, GROHE’s believes, is the virtual Shower Configurator where you can digitally mix and match its products to customise your shower configuration. Tapping on VR technology, be immersed in a virtual shower where you can see, hear and almost “feel” your creations come to life.

  • Shower in-store

It is now possible to physically experience GROHE’s signature Rainshower sprays and spray modes. Three “live” areas have been created to allow this. To power all the live water features in a conventional retail space was no small feat. The showroom had to be fitted with a 1,000-litre recycled water reservoir with carefully laid piping to supply running water to both levels.

  • Decision-making made easy

A Designers’ Area is equipped with furniture, power points and literature – perfect for end-consumers and designers to be inspired to create the perfect bathroom.
