AXOR Azzurro bathroom concept offers two distinct moods

AXOR and Tara Bernerd & Partners translate the shifting moods of Capri into sculptural bathroom environments defined by material, light and ritual.

Inspired by Capri’s dramatic coastline and shimmering sea, AXOR’s collaboration with British interior architectural practice Tara Bernerd & Partners proposes the bathroom as a space shaped as much by atmosphere as by function.

Developed as part of AXOR’s “Escape the ordinary” campaign, the Azzurro bathroom concept features two distinct moods: “Daylight” and “Golden Hour”. These spaces are designed to elevate ordinary routines into restorative experiences.

Anchoring both concepts is the iconic yet versatile AXOR One collection, whose balance of straight lines and elegant curves provides the foundation for this cliffside-inspired retreat. With its minimal, sculptural qualities and refined water experiences, AXOR One underpins the rejuvenating atmosphere of Azzurro.

Materiality plays a central role. Across both settings, stone surfaces are treated not simply as finishes, but as instruments for light. Their subtle sheen and curvature create a dynamic interplay of shadow and reflection, while timber detailing introduces warmth and contrast.

In “Daylight”, the design draws on Capri’s natural allure and timeless style. Undulating forms and an organic marble floor pattern are paired with free-form Taj Mahal quartzite walls, creating a fluid spatial composition that mirrors the surrounding landscape. The result in an atmosphere that feels calm and luxurious. Fixtures from the AXOR One collection — such as 3-hole wall-mounted washbasin faucets with cross handles and an overhead shower with thermostatic module — are rendered in brushed bronze, lending depth to the otherwise light-toned palette.

“Golden Hour” shifts the atmosphere towards depth and tactility. Marble Palladian flooring, Italian Calacatta Viola accents and dark wooden trimmings “resonate with the golden hues of dusk, enhancing the room’s luxurious and inviting atmosphere,” Bernerd explains. Above, a central skylight amplifies “the interplay of light and shadow, flooding the room with a soft, diffused glow,” she adds.

Here, the understated minimalism of AXOR One complements the more enveloping palette. A 3-hole wall-mounted washbasin faucet with lever handles is matched with an AXOR Suite basin, while showerpipe and cold-water affusion pipe set creates a more immersive showering experience. A 3-hole wall-mounted faucet with lever handles and hand-held shower completes the bath. Finished in sleek Polished Black Chrome, the fittings sharpen the material contrast.

Bernerd’s approach to Azzurro is holistic, centred on the relationship between natural materials, light and rituals. As she notes, “A bathroom should be a sanctuary where you can unwind from the excitement of the day, with the ultimate purpose of refreshing and recharging.” Across both moods, she captures the shifting qualities of Capri’s light, from “the soft, layered textures of the morning light to the warm, enveloping tones of dusk.”

To escape the ordinary, demands design that elevates everyday routines into extraordinary experiences,” adds Bernerd. In Azzurro, AXOR One fulfils this by transforming the bathroom into a welcome restorative retreat.
