Bali's jungle escape featuring nature and local craftsmanship

Set within Bali’s old-growth jungle, Lost Villa reflects a journey from routine to reinvention —translated into a layered, design-led residence integrated with AXOR fittings.

Set within a dense plot of old-growth jungle in Bali, Lost Villa is conceived as both a private retreat and a reflection of its owner’s personal journey. Created by content creator Christian LeBlanc, the six-bedroom residence emerged from a decisive shift away from a conventional career. “I started off as an accountant, working nine-to-five,” he recalls. “I felt a lack of inspiration and creativity and needed an escape.” What followed—years of travel and daily documentation—eventually led him to Bali, where the island’s landscape and culture prompted a more permanent undertaking.

The site itself was discovered through persistence. During the pandemic, LeBlanc searched for land by approaching local families, eventually uncovering a jungle plot defined by towering trees, some over a century old. The development of Lost Villa unfolded gradually, shaped by an intent to preserve the site’s character while introducing a series of layered, inhabitable spaces.

Working with Romania-based Singleart Design & Architecture, the design draws heavily from Bali’s rich nature and local craftsmanship. Blue and green tones dominate, from the infinity pool and volcanic rock koi pond to a rooftop garden edged with bougainvillea. Craft plays a central role: doors, beams and shelving were hand-carved by a neighbouring artisan using reclaimed timber from decommissioned boats and bridges. These elements are complemented by a curated mix of objects, including handmade Jakarta carpets, bespoke coffee tables by Singleart and mouth-blown pendant lights sourced from LeBlanc’s hometown Toronto.

AXOR fittings are integrated throughout, reflecting LeBlanc’s first encounter with the brand at Salone del Mobile. In one bathroom, a floor-standing AXOR Starck Organic bath thermostat accompanies a monolithic stone tub, its fluid form echoing the surrounding lush greenery. Elsewhere, an emerald marble powder room features the AXOR Starck V faucet in Brushed Bronze. He describes it as “a collection that feels experimental, elegant and totally aligned with our space.”

Each bathroom is treated as a distinct composition. AXOR FinishPlus created matching finishing for each private bathroom’s unique palette of stone. A master bathroom matches  Italian marble with AXOR MyEdition fixtures in Brushed Bronze and a custom black walnut plate. A different bedroom’s bathroom pairs Iranian platinum travertine with an AXOR Uno washbasin faucet and an AXOR Overhead Showers in Brushed Black Chrome.

Lost Villa is an exercise in atmosphere—where architecture, material and detail are calibrated to create a space that feels intuitive rather than overt. As LeBlanc suggests, the success of such a project lies in how naturally it is experienced over time.
