Occupying the upper floors of Merdeka 118, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur brings Malaysian cultural references into a contemporary hospitality setting topped with expansive city views. The country's first Park Hyatt, designed by the UK's GA Group, draws on the spatial qualities of the traditional Malay kampung house to establish a distinctly residential character.
The concept is organised around a progression of communal, semi-private and private spaces. Despite the scale of the building, the result is a warm atmosphere with intuitive orientation.
On Level 75, the reception area is conceived as the social centre of the hotel. Double-height batik-inspired brass screens cast patterned shadows across the lobby, while framed views of Kuala Lumpur anchor the interiors to their urban context. Wood, stone and metal are used throughout, complemented by references to Malaysian craft traditions including batik, songket, weaving and wood carving.
The 252 spacious guest rooms including 27 suites located on levels 100 to 112 are designed as quiet retreats above the city. A modern interpretation of the veranda is positioned beside the windows, where daybeds take advantage of the panoramic views.
Flexible shutters connect the living and bathroom areas, while mirrored panels, linen wall finishes and brass detailing reinforce the sense of layered privacy. Batik-inspired screens, woven motifs and contrasting stone patterns continue the hotel’s interpretation of local craftsmanship.
Integrated into this interior framework are JUNG controls and switches. The F50 and F40 push-button sensors support intuitive operation, while the LS990 range in Champagne and White complements the hotel’s elegant palette. Their precise geometry allows the fittings to sit quietly within the architecture, reinforcing the overall emphasis on coherence and understated luxury.
