Bangkok’s Residences 38 Blends French Elegance and Thai Design

Inspired by the French art of living, The Residences 38 merges sculptural architecture with refined interiors, where ACPV ARCHITECTS’ vision is complemented by the understated elegance of JUNG LS 990 switches.

The Residences 38 is an ultra-luxury mixed use development in Bangkok that weaves contemporary Thai architecture with the timeless elegance of French design.

Located on the prestigious Sukhumvit Soi 38, an area known for its upscale hotels and grand malls, the landmark project reflects the philosophy of L’Art de Vivre – the French art of living – offering residents an unparalleled lifestyle in the heart of the city.

Designed by internationally renowned architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel of ACPV ARCHITECTS, the creative minds behind the iconic Bulgari Hotels, The Residences 38 stands as a testament to architectural excellence.

Drawing inspiration from the sculptural forms of Antony Gormley, the building’s bold geometry redefines luxury within Bangkok’s urban skyline.

Each residence is designed as a corner unit, allowing floor-to-ceiling glass facades to maximise natural light while framing panoramic city views. The building's distinctive geomatric language continues throughout the interiors, where thoughtful details reinforce the architectural narrative. For instance, tiered herringbone flooring introduces a rhythmic, sculptural aesthetic, while artisanal fixtures and fittings elevate the material palette.

Classical French interior elements such as profiled skirting boards and large marble surfaces are intricately integrated, lending a sense of traditional European atmosphere expressed through a contemporary, minimalist lens.

To complement this aesthetic, JUNG LS 990 in lacquered dark aluminium was specifically selected.Their understated finish pairs naturally with the dark umber tones  and geometric framework of the interiors, allowing the electrical installation to meld with the overall design language.

Rather than functioning purely as technical components, these elements contribute to the composition of the space. This showcases subtle yet integral details within the architectural narrative.

Special installation techniques were also employed to maintain the visual purity of the interiors. Switches and sockets were carefully mounted on materials such as marble slabs in the kitchen, bathroom as well as integrated into fabric-covered bedheads. This ensures both functionality and a welcome visual flow throughout the residence.

The result is a living environment where architecture, interior design, and building technology reflect the sophistication and craftsmanship that define The Residences 38.
