Hansgrohe Launches A New Range Of Granite Sinks

New products designed in collaboration with Phoenix Design

Phoenix Design, winner of the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2018, has created the SilicaTec Granite Sink for hansgrohe. Minimalist and with a linear design, the piece is easy to clean and a perfect fit for any kitchen.

SilicaTec is a composite made from quartz and acrylic resins. In addition to offering a natural look, it is smooth, hard and non-porous, thanks to the use of only rounded quartz particles.

Being heat, stain and impact resistant means it is free of any traces left by red wine, coffee, tea and even hot pots and pans.

Phoenix Design was born in 1986, aboard the yacht of Klaus Grohe, youngest son of Hans Grohe, when the idea for a joint studio for Andrea Haug and Tom Schönherr was mooted. It marked the start of a strong collaboration between the two companies that has lasted the past three decades. Phoenix Design has given this piece a broad rim surface, so the material takes the spotlight and it allows space for extra features.

For instance, it is the connecting element for the two-hole mixer unique to hansgrohe sink combination units.

Other highlights include the placement of controls. One is a lever handle on the front right-hand side of the sink that can be switched to select precise water temperatures and volumes.

Another model has the Select button, which turns the tap on and off, located on the right sink rim. Turning the button opens and closes the drain.
