Icon Interior Pushes Creative Boundaries

In this next inspiration-led series, Wayne Chan, Managing Director, Max Lee, Creative Director, and Winnie Leow, Chief Designer of Icon Interior, have dreamed up a unique interior concept using items from Space Furniture. Founded in 2009, their design-and-build company provides a comprehensive range of services, including bespoke furniture, home automation, and modular furniture proposals.

Could you please describe in detail the design  in your render? What are the selected items from Space Furniture in your design concept?

The render showcases a balance of timeless elegance and modern functionality. We focused on creating a space that feels warm and livable yet refined, with a layering of natural textures, soft lighting, and carefully curated statement pieces.

The living sofa area features a curved beige sofa from Poliform and an adjoining sectional piece, forming a cosy conversational setup. Large windows bring in abundant natural light and connect the indoors with a lush green outdoor view. The rectangular marble-top dining table with a subtle vein pattern is paired with Poliform dining chairs upholstered in warm brown leather. Three large pendant lights with organic, sculptural forms hang over the dining table, lending elegance. The overall design emphasises spaciousness, clean lines, and symmetry, with full-clad natural veneer wood on the wall, dry kitchen, and part of the ceiling, creating a cohesive backdrop for the whole space.

From Space Furniture, we integrated pieces such as the Poliform sofa and armchair, Poliform dining chairs, and Bocci and Flos lamps, which anchor the space with sculptural beauty and comfort. Each item was chosen not only for its aesthetic but for its ability to complement the architectural lines and overall mood of the living area.

Could you describe the uniqueness of your design style and how has it evolved over the years?

Our design ethos is rooted in the belief that spaces should tell a story — one that resonates personally with the client while maintaining a timeless quality. Early on, our style leaned more toward minimalist modernism, but over the years, we’ve evolved to embrace a richer, layered approach. Today, we combine clean interior frameworks with tactile materials, artisanal details, and furniture pieces that bring depth and personality. This evolution reflects our journey of balancing restraint with warmth — creating interiors that feel both refined and human.

What kind of meaningful interior design projects would you be keen to work on moving forward?

We are particularly drawn to projects that have a lasting social and emotional impact, such as wellness-focused residences, boutique hospitality concepts, or community spaces that bring people together.

Meaningful design, to us, means creating environments that enhance quality of life, evoke emotions, and stand the test of time. Moving forward, we’d love to explore more projects where design isn’t just about aesthetics but also about fostering connection, mindfulness, and sustainability.
